The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in partnership with the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CAHSRA) are realigning portions of State Route 99 from Clinton Avenue to Ashlan Avenue. This realignment is part of the high-speed rail corridor of projects from Merced to Fresno and accommodates the high-speed rail system between the existing freeway and the Union Pacific Railroad. Additionally, the alignment project will improve traffic operations, reduce congestion and enhance traffic safety.
